Mt Royal – Online Learning Experience 21Apr20

Kia Ora and Hello to Parents, Caregivers and Whanau

It was lovely seeing you all today. Today was another amazing online learning experience with everyone and it is surely exciting connecting with you all on daily basis. We had such a fantastic session today with lots of fun and laughter; and carrying out the Ice melting experiment. Children were very excited about the melting ice science experiment.

Tamariki got excited when they first noticed the little ravines down the side of the ice where the salt was melting it. Once we could see that the salt was melting the ice, Tamariki got out their food colours. Tamariki squeezed a little bit of a different colours (yellow, pink, red) onto the ice. The colours were beautiful on its own, but the real reason for adding the colours was to highlight the ravines, crevices and tunnels that form on the ice as the salt melts it.

The colours really helped to highlight where the Ice was melting! From the bottom of the shallower ice pieces, we could see a whole bunch of tiny bubbles of colour where the mixed salt and colours were pooled as they slowly ate away and melted the ice.

We thank parents and whanau for your kindness and effort in allowing your child to participate in these Learning experiences!!

Kaioko would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the Whanau of the children who allow for smooth and supported E-Learning sessions
