Food is one of a great vehicle for sharing culture with people from different backgrounds raising awareness and encouraging diversity. Thanks to the parent volunteer to come to the centre to introduce south Indian cuisine (dosa) to the children and kaiako.
Dosa is a pancake made from rice flour and ground pulses and is a savoury dish.
Tamariki was given an opportunity to learn about different ingredients and the way how different food is cooked by different families in our community.
The children and the kaiako took turns to cook the dosa and yes the best part was to eat it. Yummy Dosa!!
Thank you Teachers at Mt Royal forgiving me an opportunity to be a part of your cooking activity. I really enjoyed the time with the kids and the lovely teachers there.
As a parent, I strongly value the idea of cooking with kids at the Kindergarten as this will help children to develop a strong connection with food and develop a foundation for healthy eating habit.
